As teacher education is considered as an important tool for skill development and efficiency improvement the Government of Bangladesh has decided to bring the public and private Teacher Training Colleges in a unified system of standardization. An independent Apex body on teacher education was envisaged but a policy decision has been taken recently to expand the NTRCA incorporating activities to be performed by the planned Apex body. The NTRCA will be entrusted to monitor B.Ed. and M.Ed courses offered by different universities and colleges so that the quality of the graduates are commensurate with the national goal of providing quality teachers in all educational institutions.
